I. INTRODUCTION


Plaintiff and appellant Alexander Djordjevic filed a notice of appeal from a judgment entered against him in this civil action. Respondents Terry Ring, Jr. and Broadway Investors (collectively Ring) have moved to dismiss the appeal as untimely. We grant this motion because Djordjevic failed to file a timely notice of appeal.


II. DISCUSSION


On October 21, 2005, the Honorable Steven K. Austin filed a judgment granting Ring's motion for summary judgment. Ring served a notice of entry of the October 21, 2005, judgment on Djordjevic on October 21, 2005.[1] Djordjevic filed a notice of appeal on January 5, 2006.


Rule 2(a) of the California Rules of Court (rule 2(a)) states: â€
