Roderic E. Brown was charged by amended felony complaint with the sale of cocaine base and possession of cocaine base for sale (Health & Saf. Code, §§ 11352, subd. (a), 11351.5). Representing himself, Brown waived his right to a preliminary hearing and trial by jury and pleaded guilty on both counts with the understanding he would receive a six-year state prison sentence, which the trial court subsequently imposed. Brown's request for a certificate of probable cause was denied.


We appointed counsel to represent him on appeal.
