Defendant Darryl Keith Bryant was charged by information with 19 criminal offenses arising out of various incidents occurring from April 2, 2004, to June 11, 2004, involving his girlfriend, Mahaila G. A jury convicted him of corporal injury on a cohabitant (Pen. Code, § 273.5, subd. (a) -- count fifteen),[1] hung on a charge of filing a false police report (§ 148.5, subd. (a) -- count eighteen), and acquitted him of the other 17 charges. The jury then found true allegations that defendant had three prior convictions within the meaning of the â€
