A jury found defendant Matthew David Haff guilty of assaulting Thomas Berenbak with a deadly weapon by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury and of felony hit-and-run driving causing injury to Berenbak.[1] The jury found defendant not guilty of assaulting Kurt Gooding with a deadly weapon by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury and of misdemeanor hit-and-run driving.


The court sentenced him to prison for an aggregate term of six years consisting of the middle term of three years for the assault, a consecutive three years for the great bodily injury enhancement, and a stayed term for the remaining conviction and enhancement.
