On May 6, 2003, defendant, codefendant Justin Henderson,[1] and another unidentified occupant pulled up alongside the driver's side of a vehicle and yelled to the driver that her tire was bulging and that she needed to pull over to attend to it. The victim pulled her vehicle over and brought it to a stop. Defendant, who was the driver of a blue pick-up truck with some front-end damage, stopped alongside the victim's car and positioned it parallel to the victim's car. The victim saw two passengers exit the truck, with defendant remaining inside the truck. She attempted to exit her car to view the vehicle's tire, but before she could fully open her car door, the two passengers rushed toward her car and pushed the door to her car shut. The two passengers then assaulted and robbed the victim of her purse and other items. After the perpetrators left, the victim went to a store and called the police.
The pick-up truck was stopped by police shortly thereafter. In an in-field identification, the victim identified codefendant Henderson as one of the assailants and defendant as the driver of the vehicle. The victim was â€
