Geoffrey Neal Walker was charged by felony complaint with two counts of kidnapping to commit robbery, two counts of second degree robbery and one count of assault with a firearm (Pen. Code, §§ 209, subd. (b)(1); 211; 245, subd. (a)(2)). It was further alleged Walker personally used a firearm and a principal was armed with a firearm to commit the offenses (Pen. Code, §§ 12022.53, subd. (b); 12022.5, subd. (a); 12022, subd. (a)(1)). Walker was also charged with escape (Pen. Code, § 4532, subd. (b)(1)). He entered a negotiated plea of no contest to the robbery counts and admitted one firearm-use allegation as to one robbery count and was sentenced to an aggregate state prison term of 14 years. The People's motion to dismiss the remaining counts and accompanying enhancements was granted.
Walker filed a timely notice of appeal; his request for a certificate of probable cause was denied. We appointed counsel to represent him on appeal.
