IN THE COURT OF APPEAL OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA

SECOND APPELLATE DISTRICT

THE PEOPLE,

Plaintiff and Respondent,

v.

JOHN HOWARD HACKMAN,

Defendant and Appellant.

B187119

(Los Angeles County

Super. Ct. No. VA084721)

Appeal from a judgment of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County. Michael L. Schuur, Temporary Judge. (Pursuant to Cal. Const., art. VI, § 21.). Affirmed.

Marilee Marshall, under appointment by the Court of Appeal, for Defendant and Appellant.

No appearance for Plaintiff and Respondent.

_________________________________

John Howard Hackman appeals from judgment entered after conviction following his negotiated plea of no contest to committing a lewd act upon a child under the age of 14 and continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14. In accordance with the plea agreement, the court sentenced him to 18 years in prison and dismissed three additional counts. Appellant did not obtain a certificate of probable cause.

We appointed counsel to represent appellant on appeal. After examination of the record, counsel filed an opening brief raising no issues and asking this court to independently review the record. On March 17, 2006, we advised appellant he had 30 days within which to personally submit any contentions or issues he wished us to consider. To date, we have received no response.

We have examined the entire record and are satisfied appellant's attorney has fully complied with her responsibilities and that no arguable issue exists. (People v. Wende (1979) 25 Cal.3d 436, 441.)

DISPOSITION
