1. Introduction
A jury convicted defendant Lawrence Duane Richard of felony drug possession and transportation (Health & Saf. Code, §§ 11377, subd. (a), & 11379, subd. (a)) and misdemeanor driving and being under the influence of a controlled substance (Veh. Code, § 23152, subd. (a), & Health & Saf. Code, § 11550, subd. (a)).
