IN THE COURT OF APPEAL OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
SECOND APPELLATE DISTRICT
DIVISION SIX
THE PEOPLE, Plaintiff and Respondent, v. PHILLIP EDGAR WATTS, Defendant and Appellant. | 2d Crim. No. B187597 (Super. Ct. No. 1178646) (Santa Barbara County)
|
Phillip Edgar Watts appeals from the judgment following his no contest plea to petty theft (Pen. Code, §§ 484, subd. (a); 666) and giving false information to a police officer. (Pen. Code, § 148.9, subd. (a). He admitted the allegation that he had served a prior prison term, making the petty theft a felony. (Pen. Code, § 666.) Pursuant to the plea agreement, the trial court sentenced appellant to two years in state prison. It imposed a consecutive jail sentence of 156 days on the misdemeanor false information count and awarded 156 days of presentence credits against that sentence. The court denied appellant's request for a certificate of probable cause.
We appointed counsel to represent appellant in this appeal. After reviewing the record, counsel filed an opening brief raising no issues and requesting this court to independently examine the record pursuant to People v. Wende (1979) 25 Cal.3d 436.
On April 14, 2006, we advised appellant that he had 30 days in which to submit a written brief or letter stating any contentions or arguments he wished us to consider. We have received no response from him.
We have examined the entire record and are satisfied that appellant's attorney has fully complied with his responsibilities and that no arguable issues exist. (People v. Wende, supra, 25 Cal.3d at p. 441.)
The judgment is affirmed.
