A jury convicted defendant Cesar Agusto Vasquez of actively participating in a criminal street gang (count IV), possessing a short-barrel shotgun (count V), and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm (count VI). The jury also found that defendant carried a firearm on his person or in a vehicle in the commission of those crimes, and that the crimes alleged in counts V and VI were committed for the benefit of, at the direction of, and in association with a criminal street gang.
