INTRODUCTION
Khawaja Saleem Ahsan (Ahsan) and his wife, Ambreen Ahsan Khawaja (Ambreen), appeal from a judgment in favor of Ahsan's brother, Rafi Khawaja (Rafi).[1] On appeal, Ahsan and Ambreen challenge only the trial court's award on Rafi's cross-complaint. We affirm.
BACKGROUND
On September 21, 2000, Ahsan petitioned for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. His debts were accordingly discharged on January 18, 2001. On December 31, 2001, Ahsan and Ambreen sued Rafi alleging various causes of action (quiet title, declaratory relief, breach of contract, enforcement of oral trust, imposition of constructive trust) regarding the ownership of a piece of real property. On January 28, 2002, Rafi cross-complained, alleging Ahsan and Ambreen owed him $17,000, the balance of a $76,500 debt Ashan had agreed to repay in a June 8, 1998 writing.[2] On July 8, 2002, the bankruptcy court reopened Ahsan's case.
