P. v. Cardoza
A jury found defendant Lawrence Pepe Cardoza guilty of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, evading a peace officer, driving against the proper direction of traffic while evading a peace officer, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, and driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The court found he had one prior strike, one prior serious felony conviction, and two prior prison terms, and sentenced him to 18 years 4 months in prison. Defendant appeals, raising the following three contentions: (1) the court erred in admitting evidence of his prior criminal acts and his parolee status; (2) the court erred in denying his motion to discharge court appointed counsel; and (3) we should review the sealed transcript and related records filed in relation to his motion to disclose peace officer personnel records to determine whether the trial court abused its discretion in denying the motion.
Finding no prejudicial error, Court affirm the judgment.
