Defendant and appellant Jeremy Kraft Gsoell was charged by felony complaint with attempted murder. (Pen. Code , §§ 664, 187, subd. (a), count 1.) It was also alleged that he inflicted great bodily injury (§ 12022.7, subd. (a)) and personally used a dangerous weapon (§12022, subd. (b)(1)). Defendant was appointed counsel and pled not guilty. He then moved for substitute counsel, pursuant to People v. Marsden (1970) 2 Cal.3d 118 (Marsden). The trial court denied the motion. Following a preliminary hearing, an information was filed, charging defendant as charged in the felony complaint. A first amended information was filed, which added a count for assault with a deadly weapon (§ 245, subd. (a), count 2), with a great bodily injury allegation attached (§ 12022.7, subd. (a)).
